About
Eric Moutal designs and builds heirloom quality wood furniture in his studio in East Vancouver.Eric has always been drawn to working with his hands and solving problems. From an aircraft mechanic working on float planes in Yellowknife, to a degree in Mechanical Engineering, to a decade as a craft brewer, his varied career has been built on a foundation of technical aptitude with each step in search of greater creative freedom in his work. This path ultimately led him to furniture making and the Chippendale International School of Furniture in Scotland, where his technical problem solving and attention to detail serve as a starting point for the creation of his pieces that embrace local, natural products and respond to the inherent variability of wood as a medium. Eric’s designs are understated with intention; inviting you to touch them and revealing subtle complexity the longer you look.Eric makes custom furniture that is made to bring joy (and a touch of whimsy) into people’s homes and lives.
